Construction Manager
About the role
Administer the construction contract by managing, observing, and reporting on ongoing construction for a variety of water and/or facilities infrastructure projects to verify compliance with approved plans and specifications.
- Observe and inspect ongoing construction work, including material sampling and testing as well as measuring quantities.
- Review contractor’s work for compliance with contract documents and clarify contract documents for the contractor.
- Lead the development and management of:
- Change/Field orders
- Updates to construction schedule
- Submittals
- Request for Information (RFI)
- Claims
- Pay requests
- Construction meetings
- Construction closeout process
- Manage construction project budget and contract construction project.
- Collaborate with design teams to facilitate responses to RFIs and submittals and/or construction issues.
- Communicate with contractor about non-conforming work.
- Supervise/manage field staff and the execution of their daily work.
- Correspond with client, contractors, and other employees.
- Read plans and specifications to ensure construction is in accordance with them.
- Communicate with owner to understand their needs, clarify objectives, and relay information to Freese and Nichols and the contractor.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
- 6+ years of relevant experience in the construction field serving as a construction representative or inspector.
- Fully proficient and ability to mentor others using project management information systems.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications
- Project experience on water/wastewater collections.
- Project experience with water/wastewater treatment.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) and/or Construction Management Institute Certification.
