Construction Management Residential Faculty

Mesa Community College (MCC), celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2025, is nationally recognized for excellence in university transfer, career and technical programs, civic engagement, and innovative education. Serving over 25,500 students annually, MCC offers degree and certificate programs across two campuses and additional locations. A Hispanic Serving Institution, nearly 50% of MCC students are first-generation college attendees, and it supports the largest Indigenous student population among Maricopa County Community College District colleges, including students from 22 Arizona tribes and additional out-of-state tribes.

About the role

This full-time, 9-month Residential Faculty position begins August 2026. The role involves teaching, advising, and curriculum development for the Construction Management (C.M.) program, which serves a diverse student population. Approximately one-third of C.M. students transfer to four-year institutions such as ASU or NAU. The position requires teaching a minimum load of 15 up to 25 credit hours each fall and spring semester, maintaining consistent curriculum standards, and utilizing innovative teaching methods via the college’s Learning Management System, Canvas.

Additional responsibilities include student advising, recruitment, program promotion, and maintaining professional competence through conferences, seminars, and workshops. The role also involves developing budgets, ordering supplies, and fostering relationships with local and national business partners to support student placement and program growth.

Responsibilities

• Teach engineering material science courses requiring algebra, trigonometry, vectors, and higher-level math skills.
• Instruct a diverse student population in classroom and laboratory settings.
• Develop syllabi, course outlines, and instructional materials for coursework.
• Navigate and utilize the college’s Learning Management System (Canvas) for course delivery and student engagement.
• Evaluate student performance, prepare and grade exams, and maintain laboratories and related equipment.
• Hold academic support hours to assist and advise students.
• Promote the Construction Management program through student recruitment and faculty mentorship on curriculum updates.
• Ensure teaching remains current by attending conferences, courses, seminars, and workshops.
• Participate in district-wide and campus committees, activities, and events.
• Maintain proficiency in Maricopa County Community College District software systems, including Canvas, scheduling (Ad Astra), financial (FMS), and student information systems (SIS).
• Post course materials in Canvas and maintain required academic support hours on campus.
• Teach in-person, online, hybrid, and other modalities, with a minimum equivalent of 15 credit hours per semester; may include modified schedules such as Fridays, weekends, or mini-camps during school breaks.
• Engage in continuous learning through professional development activities.

Requirements

• Five years of occupational experience in construction management or a related field, or
• Three years of occupational experience in the field and a Bachelor’s degree or higher, or
• A Master’s degree or higher in construction management, applied engineering science, architecture, or technical education, or
• A Journeyman certification in the field to be taught.

Qualifications

• Previous teaching experience at a university, community college, or accredited technical institution.
• Degree discipline in construction management, applied engineering science, architecture, or technical education.
• Experience teaching estimating, statics, dynamics, heavy equipment, construction management methods, and surveying.
• Experience with course and curriculum development.
• Experience delivering courses electronically via Zoom, Webex, or Google Meet.
• Experience teaching in multiple modalities, including in-person, hybrid, and online.

Special Working Conditions

• Local travel to multiple colleges, area high schools, sister campuses, or the District office may be required.
• Remote travel may be required for training or seminars.
• Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D driver’s license is required; must meet minimum driving standards as outlined in MCCCD Administrative Regulations.
• Golf cart and forklift training may be required as needed.

Pay

Salary range: $51,774 - $99,673 annually, dependent on experience.

Schedule

30 hours per week, 9-month work calendar (academic year).
