Job Summary

Glendale Community College is seeking a Construction Management Faculty member to support student success and advance workforce-focused construction education and 4-year transfer opportunities. This position enhances student learning through the planning, development, instruction, and assessment of construction management courses spanning foundational concepts to advanced, applied practices. Instruction emphasizes project planning, cost control, scheduling, safety, quality management, and the technical and professional skills essential for success in construction management careers and preparation for the workforce.

Essential Functions

- Instructs students in classroom settings across construction related courses, in person and online, using inclusive, high-impact teaching practices that develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and technical skills. - Plans, develops, and delivers instruction, including syllabi, course materials, assignments, and assessments; evaluates student learning, course outcomes, and program objectives to support continuous curriculum improvement. - Uses the Canvas Learning Management System to support instruction and communication, ensuring course materials meet accessibility and compliance standards. - Maintains scheduled academic support hours to assist students and provide academic advising for construction management pathways. - Promotes student engagement, retention, and success through mentoring, tutoring, internships, research opportunities, engineering clubs, field trips, and community- and industry-based experiences. - Develops and sustains partnerships with industry, universities, advisory councils, and K–12/STEM programs to support workforce preparation, transfer pathways, grants, and outreach.

Minimum Qualifications

For occupational disciplines, a combination of education and/or experience is required to qualify. A faculty may qualify with any of the following: - Five years of occupational experience in the field to be taught OR - Three years of occupational experience in the field to be taught and a Bachelor’s degree or higher OR - A Master’s degree or higher in the teaching field - A Journeyman certification in the field to be taught

Desired Qualifications

A. Recent teaching experience in construction management, including introductory and intermediate coursework such as estimating, statistics, dynamics, surveying, heavy equipment, and construction management methods. B. Degree in construction management, applied engineering science, architecture or technical education, or a closely related field. C. Experience teaching across multiple instructional modalities, including in-person, hybrid, and online environments. D. Industry experience in Construction Management or a closely related construction field. E. Experience developing instructional and/or training materials and assessing student learning using a variety of summative assessment methods. F. Use of interactive, innovative, and/or evidence-based teaching strategies to effectively engage and support students as listed on the resume. G. One year of relevant full-time MCCCD experience during the previous two years

Special Working Conditions

- The successful candidate may be required to work at multiple sites (Main and North campuses), and assigned to teach days, evenings, and weekends. - May be required to lift objects up to 25 lbs. - Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D Driver’s License is required. - Must meet district standards regarding driving college vehicles: https://business.maricopa.edu/risk-management/motor-vehicle-usage/motor-vehicle-driving-requirement
