Construction Loan Coordinator I-II
About the role
Washington Trust Bank is seeking a Construction Loan Coordinator to join their specialized team. The role involves collaborating with Relationship Managers to manage Commercial Real Estate loans from origination to closing, providing direct support in loan documentation, compliance, and administration.
Responsibilities
- Orders and reviews supporting loan documentation such as title reports, appraisals, environmental reports, and flood insurance verifications.
- Ensures compliance with pre- and post-closing requirements pursuant to the credit authorization.
- Prepares requests for loan documentation packages for new and renewed loans and ensures applicable loan documents have been accurately prepared.
- Closes commercial/residential construction loans. Prepares and records applicable closing documents. Coordinates closing and funding with borrowers, title companies, and closing attorneys as required.
- Sets up and maintains thorough and accurate credit and draw files for residential and commercial construction loans.
- Administers the construction draw process, which includes reviewing draws, updating budgets, ensuring loans are balanced, reviewing inspection reports, and identifying potential construction and title issues.
- Prepares and records applicable closing documents. Coordinates closing and funding with borrowers, title companies, and closing attorneys as required.
- Tracks delinquent interest payments on all commercial real estate loans.
- Oversees the lot releases on development loans and release of collateral for all commercial real estate loans.
- Obtains set-aside letters and Letters of Credit for commercial real estate loans according to terms provided by City and County agencies, keeping consistent with WTB policies and procedures.
- Works closely with relationship managers, borrowers, and all other authorized parties affiliated with each loan transaction to ensure deadlines are met.
- Provides timely and excellent customer service.
- Performs compliance and risk management duties as assigned.
- Responsible for entering correct data into the core system for commercial real estate management reports.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of construction loan due diligence and procedures; ability to review LaserPro loan documentation and/or attorney-prepared loan documentation to ensure alignment with credit approval.
- Experience coordinating documentation, closing, funding, and monitoring of commercial and residential loans.
- Self-directed with a strong sense of urgency, focus, and discipline—even in environments with frequent interruptions.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of loan processing and documentation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel functions and formula-driven spreadsheets; familiarity with bank core processing systems.
- Demonstrated flexibility and capacity to learn quickly, with success in both independent and team-based assignments.
- Excellent communication skills—written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal—to build confidence across all levels of the organization.

The compensation range for Construction Loan Coordinator I is $24.45 - $36.71, and for Construction Loan Coordinator II is $26.63 - $39.94. The actual compensation may vary based on various factors including location, experience, and performance. This position is also eligible to participate in an applicable incentive compensation plan.
