Construction Laborer
About the role
The role of the Construction Laborer is to perform physical labor tasks at construction sites in accordance with company and industry safety rules and operating procedures.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the loading/unloading of equipment and supplies needed for daily work assignments, setting up of worksite traffic and safety controls and properly securing work area.
- Dig with shovels, picks, digging bars to expose located utilities, access underground vaults and pedestals, and complete trenches.
- Operate jackhammers, air knives, pneumatic boring equipment (compressors & missiles) and powered tools.
- Place conduit and/or cables in trenches, splice conduit sections (install couplers) as directed, pedestals, vaults, etc. to complete construction tasks.
- Fully restore work site at completion of daily work, refill trenches and holes, tamp soil, replant any plants or shrubs that were disturbed during our construction, place asphalt on streets or concrete on sidewalk where excavations have been performed.
- Clean and maintain all company vehicles and equipment assigned for use.
- Capable of working in all temperatures and climates.
- Able to perform physical tasks for the entire assigned work shift.
- Willingness to work shifts as assigned, including daily overtime when necessary.
- Ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed.
- Bring problems to the attention of the Foreman, Construction Supervisor, Construction Manager, Safety Director or HR.
Requirements
- Valid CA Driver's License for three years and clean DMV record a MUST!
- Some knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials and supplies used in heavy/highway construction work.
- Some Knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions.
- Able to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule.
- Able to lift 80 pounds or more, walk and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
- Able to communicate orally and in writing.
- Able to use equipment and tools properly and safely.
- Able to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions.
- Able to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.

Work Environment
Work is normally performed in outdoor settings. Outdoor work may be required in residential and commercial areas, construction sites, and field facilities. Performance of the position requires working safely and may require working outdoors in all weather conditions, all noise levels, hazardous conditions, and on the full range of outdoor work surfaces.
