Responsibilities
- Mop, brush, or spread cleaning solutions, or other compounds over surfaces to clean them or to provide protection.
- Operate jackhammers and drills to break up concrete or pavement.
- Place concrete or masonry structures.
- Position, join, align, and seal structural components, such as concrete wall sections.
- Grouting
- Shovel cement and other materials into portable cement mixers; and mix, pour, and spread concrete.
- Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials.
- Sooth and finish freshly poured cement or concrete, using floats, trowels, screeds, or powered cement finishing tools.
- Tend machines that pump concrete, grout, cement, sand, plaster or stucco through spray-guns for application to ceilings and walls.
- Tend pumps, compressors, and generators to provide power for tools, machinery, and equipment, or to heat and move materials such as asphalt.
- Build and position forms for pouring concrete, and dismantle forms after use, using saws, hammers, nails, or bolts.
- Clean and prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards.
- Control traffic passing near, in, and around work zones.
- Erect and disassemble scaffolding, shoring, braces, traffic barricades, ramps, and other temporary structures.
- Grind, scrape, sand, or polish surfaces such as concrete, marble, terrazzo, or wood flooring, using abrasive tools or machines.
- Load, unload, and identify building materials, machinery, and tools, and distribute them to the appropriate locations, according to project plans and specifications.
- Mix ingredients to create compounds for covering or cleaning surfaces.
- Provide assistance to other craft workers.
- Other miscellaneous tasks as require.
Physical Requirements
- Workers must be able to stand or walk for long periods.
- Use arms and hands to reach for, handle, and manipulate objects.
- Lift and carry materials weighing 50 lbs frequently and up to 100 lbs occasionally.
- Climb up and down ladders, scaffolds, and other objects.
- Carry tools and equipment.
- Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and see (naturally or with correction).
- Employee must be physically able to lift 50 lbs. without assistance.
- Employee will be required to traverse rocky terrain on a regular basis, good balance and steadiness is a critical requirement.
- Frequent requirement to step onto and off of vehicles, platforms, and concrete forms.
- Employee should not have a fear of heights.
- Employee may be required to work in a confined area for a prolonged time period. Employee should not be claustrophobic.
- Must have a can-do attitude.
