Construction Laborer
Position Summary
This position performs a wide range of duties pertaining to site work. This individual will use power tools like jackhammers, drills, and concrete saws, and rakes/shovels to help form and finish concrete. THIS IS A UNION POSITION - SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT WILL BECOME A MEMBER OF THE UNITED STEELWORKERS UNION LOCAL 14581, IF NOT ALREADY A CURRENT MEMBER.
Responsibilities
- Operate hand tools and power tools
- Read shop/engineering drawings and construct forms per those specifications
- Move and assemble forms at pouring sites
- Flagging/Traffic Control
- Other duties may be assigned as needed
Qualifications
- Minimum of 6 months experience
- Must have a high school diploma (or equivalent)
- Knowledge of hand tools and power equipment (e.g. table saw, chop saw, miter saw, hand saw, nail gun, hot-wire)
- Ability and willingness to learn and be trained
- Some construction experience preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members
- Must work safely and be team oriented
- Good attendance and positive attitude
- Knowledge and skills to use basic tools
- Knowledge of basic measurements and how to read a tape measure
- Understands and can apply basic mathematical skills (adding, subtracting, multiplication & division)
- Must be 18 years in age or older
- Must pass pre-employment screening
- Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as per company policy
- Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required
- Willingness to work nights and weekends when necessary
- Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required
- Must be willing to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA
