Job Summary
As the Laborer you will ultimately be responsible for supporting underground utility construction crews, assisting with excavation and site preparation, and ensuring jobsite safety and cleanliness. You will coordinate with operators and foremen to complete daily construction activities and deliver efficient project support. As the Laborer, your customers are internal field crews, project managers, and external clients, and you will make meaningful contributions to the company’s success through teamwork, safety, and productivity.
Key Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to)
- Attend and participate in morning and afternoon job-specific safety meetings as needed
- Operate tamping machines and inspect equipment for proper functionality and maintenance
- Assist with loading and unloading jobsite materials and maintaining a clean work area
- Support excavation activities, shoring placement, conduit installation, potholing, and backfilling procedures
- Absorb and promote safety compliance while reporting injuries and incidents to leadership
- Additional responsibilities within functional scope based on business needs
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid Driver’s License required
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review
- Previous construction or labor experience preferred
- Experience in underground utility construction is a plus
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong understanding of safety procedures and policies
- Ability to perform physically demanding work and lift up to 75 lbs.
- Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
- Ability to work in unfavorable weather conditions for extended periods
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs.
- Stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch for extended periods
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Operate and work safely around hand tools and small equipment
- Maintain visual and audible awareness of crew members and jobsite hazards
- Must wear required PPE including safety boots, glasses, hard hats, and applicable safety gear
