About the Role

Construction laborers and helpers work on almost all construction sites, performing a wide range of tasks and a variety of construction-related activities during all phases of construction. The main task laborers perform is preparing and cleaning up construction sites.

Responsibilities

  • Regular attendance at assigned location (may include office or project site)
  • Clean and prepare construction sites by removing debris and possible hazards
  • Load or unload building materials to be used in construction
  • Lift and move objects and materials (intermittently and continuously, up to 50+ lbs)
  • Build or take apart bracing, scaffolding, and temporary structures
  • Dig trenches, backfill holes, or compact earth to prepare for construction
  • Operate or tend equipment and machines used in construction and demolition (e.g., jackhammers, demo saws)
  • Assist craft workers with their duties (mechanical, electrical, and telecom divisions)
  • Follow plans and instructions from supervisors or more experienced workers
  • Maintain strict adherence to safety rules and quality standards
  • Participate in site housekeeping
  • Interact with co-workers in an attentive, courteous manner
  • Perform additional duties as directed by management
  • Install barricades and perform demolition (hand and mechanical devices)
  • Assist in concrete or asphalt installations
  • Clean up sites and dispose of waste
  • Provide assistance to equipment operators
  • Maintain good documentation and record keeping, including time sheets, daily reports, and material requests
  • Understand and strictly adhere to daily Job Hazard Analysis (JHA)

Requirements

  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • 0-3 years of field experience, trade school, or apprenticeship
  • Highly focused on customer satisfaction expectations
  • OSHA 10 certification
