Construction Internship Fall 2026

Hoar is recruiting qualified applicants for an internship position focused on civil engineering, construction engineering, or building/construction sciences for the Fall 2026 term.

About the role

This internship provides exposure to estimating, project management, and fieldwork.

Responsibilities

• Gain an understanding of the construction process
• Participate in quantity takeoff and estimating
• Work with the submittal process: maintain logs, review and approve shop drawings and submittals
• Prepare transmittals for project documentation distribution
• Assist in jobsite setup, permitting, and closeout

Requirements

• Currently enrolled as a full-time student in an accredited college or university pursuing a four-year or advanced degree in Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Building Science
• Maintain a 2.5 or higher cumulative GPA
• Able to work 40 hours per week during the fall semester
• Completed college freshman year
• Desire to pursue a career in the construction industry upon graduation
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Valid Driver’s License

Skills

• Proficiency with spreadsheets
• Good communication skills
• Willingness to handle responsibility

Physical Demands and Working Environment

The role requires the ability to perform the following:

• Work in indoor and outdoor settings with exposure to various weather and temperature conditions, including travel between sites
• Stand or sit for prolonged periods
• Occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist
• Lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight
• Operate equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination
• Travel to other locations using private or commercial transportation
• Verbally communicate to exchange information

Vision and hearing must be within the normal range, with or without correction.
