About the role

The primary responsibility of this position is to deliver customized construction instruction for non-credit courses at Johnson County Community College (JCCC). Trainings are tailored to meet client needs, ranging from introductory construction skills for individuals new to the industry to advanced techniques for experienced professionals. This flexibility ensures that we are directly responding to community and workforce demands. Instruction may be delivered on campus, virtually, or at client locations, depending on program and client needs.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver customized construction instruction for non-credit courses at JCCC.
  • Design and deliver practical, hands-on instruction.
  • Engage adult learners through strong presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Teach multiple construction topics including residential, commercial, blueprint reading, and safety compliance.
  • Customize training content for specific organizational needs.
  • Maintain a professional and inclusive learning environment.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated expertise in construction practices, techniques, and safety standards.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in construction or related trade.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to teach multiple construction topics (e.g., residential, commercial, blueprint reading, and safety compliance).
  • Commitment to maintaining a professional and inclusive learning environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Johnson County General Contractor License.
  • Prior teaching or training experience in adult education or workforce development.
  • Experience customizing training content for specific organizational needs.
  • Familiarity with current industry trends, tools, and technologies.
  • Certifications such as OSHA, NCCER, or other recognized construction credentials.
  • Experience with Heavy Equipment Operation.
  • Proficiency with instructional technology and online learning platforms.
