Essential Functions
- Monitoring construction operations to determine compliance with project plans and specifications
- Performing field testing on construction materials to ensure compliance with project plans and specifications
- Preparing Daily Field Reports
- Reporting deficiencies observed in the field
- Performing complex quantity and engineering computations
- Communicating effectively on site deficiencies to in-house project managers, contractors, and/or client representatives as the project requires
Qualifications
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
- ConnDOT or vertical building inspection experience is a plus
- Maintain one of the following: Valid NICET Level II or higher Certification in Transportation/Highway Construction; BS in Civil Engineering or similar
- Ability to perform complex quantity and engineering computations, and to read and interpret plans and specifications
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with strong interpersonal skills
- A valid driver's license and a personal vehicle for site inspections
Physical Requirements
- Frequently assume a stationary position
- Frequent handling, inspecting, and/or feeling documents, materials, and/or equipment relevant to the job
- Frequent communication about same
- Regularly move around on the job-site, including ascending or descending on the landscape or on a ladder
- Frequent positioning to access necessary testing materials and equipment, frequently for prolonged periods of time
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs
- Close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus are required for this position
- Occasionally operate a computer, as well as other related office machinery, such as calculators, printers, and fax machines
- Requires the regular operation of a motor-vehicle, which may require remaining stationary for extended periods of time
PAY RANGE
Pay Range: $36.00 - $45.00 / hour
