Construction Inspectors & Engineers (NICET)

Essential Functions

• Monitoring construction operations to determine compliance with project plans and specifications
• Performing field testing on construction materials to ensure compliance with project plans and specifications
• Preparing Daily Field Reports
• Reporting deficiencies observed in the field
• Performing complex quantity and engineering computations
• Communicating effectively on site deficiencies to in-house project managers, contractors, and/or client representatives as the project requires

Qualifications

• A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
• ConnDOT or vertical building inspection experience is a plus
• Maintain one of the following: Valid NICET Level II or higher Certification in Transportation/Highway Construction; BS in Civil Engineering or similar
• Ability to perform complex quantity and engineering computations, and to read and interpret plans and specifications
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, with strong interpersonal skills
• A valid driver's license and a personal vehicle for site inspections

Physical Requirements

• Frequently assume a stationary position
• Frequent handling, inspecting, and/or feeling documents, materials, and/or equipment relevant to the job
• Frequent communication about same
• Regularly move around on the job-site, including ascending or descending on the landscape or on a ladder
• Frequent positioning to access necessary testing materials and equipment, frequently for prolonged periods of time
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs
• Close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus are required for this position
• Occasionally operate a computer, as well as other related office machinery, such as calculators, printers, and fax machines
• Requires the regular operation of a motor-vehicle, which may require remaining stationary for extended periods of time

PAY RANGE

Pay Range: $36.00 - $45.00 / hour
