About the role
Techno is seeking an experienced Electrical Inspector to support a major wastewater infrastructure upgrade project in the New York City metro area. This role plays a critical part in ensuring that complex electrical systems associated with large-scale public works are installed, tested, and commissioned in compliance with contract documents, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
What you'll do
- Perform daily inspection of electrical construction activities including conduit installation, wiring, switchgear, motor control centers, instrumentation, and power distribution systems
- Monitor contractor work to ensure compliance with project specifications, drawings, and applicable codes including NEC and NYC electrical codes
- Review shop drawings, submittals, and RFIs related to electrical systems and provide field feedback
- Coverage with resident engineers, project managers, and other inspectors to ensure alignment across disciplines
- Track and document daily construction activities, quantities, and progress through detailed field reports
- Witness testing and commissioning of electrical systems, including functional and performance testing
- Identify non-conforming work and support resolution through corrective actions
- Maintain strong communication with contractors to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements
- Support project closeout activities including punch lists, inspections, and final documentation
Qualifications
- Minimum 5–10+ years of experience in electrical inspection on heavy civil, infrastructure, or water/wastewater projects
- Experience working with NYCDEP on wastewater treatment plant or pumping station projects highly preferred
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems including power distribution, controls, instrumentation, and SCADA environments
- Familiarity with NEC, NYC Electrical Code, and applicable industry standards
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and electrical schematics
- Experience with field documentation and reporting systems
- OSHA 30 certification required
- NICET (Electrical or related field) or equivalent certification preferred
- Strong communication and coordination skills in a multi-stakeholder environment
