Construction Inspector

CPH is a multi-disciplinary Engineering and Architecture firm that ranks in the nation’s Top 500 Design Firms by ENR Magazine. We are seeking a talented and reliable Construction Inspector to join our dynamic team supporting constructability and survey reviews. This role offers location flexibility with a home office in Miami, Tampa, or Jacksonville, FL.

About the role

The Construction Inspector ensures construction projects are completed according to plans, specifications, and relevant codes and regulations. This role focuses on inspecting water/wastewater facilities, pump stations, and pipeline projects, documenting discrepancies, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, and adhering to local, state, and federal regulations. Work hours will vary based on project needs.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular on-site inspections of construction to ensure compliance with building codes, project specifications, and safety regulations.
• Ensure construction aligns with approved utility plans, drawings, and project requirements.
• Verify all construction materials and work meet quality standards, project specifications, and AIS/BABA requirements as applicable.
• Review and interview for Davis Bacon Wage Rate compliance.
• Prepare inspection reports detailing observations and corrective actions needed.
• Maintain records of inspections, tests, and project correspondence.
• Document and report incidents, accidents, or safety violations.
• Ensure contractors and subcontractors follow safety protocols and notify discrepancies to the contractor and client.
• Monitor projects for safety compliance and adherence to safety protocols.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction, construction inspection, or as a Field Engineer.
• Associate's Degree or similar related education is preferred but not required.
• Valid driver’s license.

Skills

• Experience in construction inspection related to water/wastewater facilities, pipelines, and pumping stations.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
• Proficiency using inspection tools and equipment.
• Excellent oral, written, and organizational skills, with the ability to maintain schedules and meet project deadlines.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work cross-functionally in a team environment.
• Familiarity with the architecture and engineering industry.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to assist with administrative duties as needed.

Work Environment

The role operates in a professional office environment. Routine use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, copiers, and filing cabinets is required. The position may require sitting or standing for long periods and lifting up to 25 pounds.

Pay

$64,000 - $95,000 / year, dependent upon experience.
