About the role

STV’s Pennsylvania Transportation group seeks Construction Inspectors for highway and bridge construction projects. Positions are located in the Lehigh Valley, Northeastern PA, and Philadelphia regions, serving PennDOT and PA Turnpike clients.

Responsibilities

  • Review contractor’s procedures, materials, and work product for conformance with plans and specifications.
  • Prepare written inspection reports on work in progress and completed work, including quantity calculations, and document materials testing and certification processes.
  • Assist in documenting and reviewing construction project activities, materials testing, and certifications, and provide support for contractor payments and change orders.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders to keep projects on track and within budget.
  • Work safely and comply with company, project, and OSHA safety guidelines on construction sites.
  • Attend training sessions to obtain additional certifications and maintain current ones.

Requirements

  • 1 to 4 years of experience on highway and/or bridge construction inspection projects.
  • A combination of NICET Level I or II in Highway Construction, NECEPT Asphalt Field Technician, ACI Concrete Technician, PennDOT/NECEPT Concrete Technician certifications, and training in Stormwater Management, Guiderail/Attenuator installation, Traffic Control, and OSHA/Safety.
  • A HS Diploma (or GED) and technical highway or bridge construction inspection experience.
  • Pertinent certifications and a working knowledge of PennDOT and/or PA Turnpike electronic documentation systems.
  • An AS or BS in Civil Engineering or Construction Management is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Active Professional Engineering license may be considered in lieu of NICET Certification.
  • Basic computer skills (excel, word, emails).
  • Knowledge of PennDOT highway and bridge construction specifications, standards, materials, and work methods.
  • Math skills for making linear, area, and volume measurements and calculating work in proper measurement and payment units.
  • Ability to assist with project documentation and status tracking.
  • Willingness to work nights and weekends as needed.

Skills

  • Written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to assist supervisors and managers in keeping clients and stakeholders informed on project activities and issues.
  • Ability to quickly resolve construction issues to avoid rework, change orders, or construction claims.

Pay

Compensation Range: $61,899.00 - $70,339.00

Schedule

Nights and weekends as required by clients and project schedules.
