About the role

Project Solutions Inc. is seeking a Construction Inspector to support the rehabilitation of Two Medicine Road in Montana under the MT FLAP BLACKF 12(1) and MT NP GLAC 12(2) roadway improvement projects. The selected individual will provide field inspection services, ensure compliance with project specifications and FHWA requirements, and support successful delivery of federal transportation infrastructure improvements. This role is contingent upon award of project.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily construction inspection of roadway rehabilitation work to verify compliance with project plans, specifications, quality standards, and contract requirements
  • Monitor contractor operations, construction methods, materials, and workmanship to ensure adherence to Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) requirements and procedures
  • Maintain detailed inspection records, daily reports, photographs, field notes, and documentation of construction progress and issues
  • Coordinate with government project staff, contractors, and stakeholders to communicate project status, field observations, and potential construction concerns
  • Review and document compliance with project safety requirements, environmental commitments, traffic control measures, and site-specific regulations
  • Verify quantities of completed work and assist with tracking pay items, contract modifications, and project documentation
  • Conduct field inspections of road, drainage, and related transportation infrastructure improvements and identify deficiencies requiring corrective action
  • Provide technical support and recommendations to the Government regarding construction progress, quality assurance, and contract compliance throughout project execution

Requirements

Education/Certification

Candidate must qualify as a FHWA CMF CI-III Construction Inspector

Experience

  • Experience inspecting asphalt paving operations, including placement, compaction, and quality control of roadway surfacing materials
  • Proven background in paving inspection and monitoring contractor compliance with project plans, specifications, and industry standards
  • Experience with highway earthwork, grading, and site preparation activities, including verification of elevations, slopes, and compaction requirements
  • Knowledge of drainage structure and culvert installation, including inspection of stormwater management and roadway drainage systems
  • Experience reviewing and monitoring traffic control operations, work zone safety measures, and maintenance of traffic plans
  • Familiarity with construction staking, survey support, and interpretation of engineering plans and field layout information
  • Experience performing or coordinating highway materials testing, including concrete, asphalt, aggregate, and soil testing procedures
  • Working knowledge of erosion and sediment control measures, underground utility installation, and other roadway construction features commonly associated with transportation infrastructure projects

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of highway and transportation construction inspection practices, including quality assurance, quality control, and contract compliance
  • Ability to interpret engineering plans, specifications, construction drawings, and contract documents with a high degree of accuracy
  • Working knowledge of Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) standards, processes, and documentation requirements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare detailed inspection reports and effectively coordinate with project stakeholders
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and recordkeeping abilities to maintain accurate project documentation and inspection records
  • Proven ability to identify construction issues, evaluate field conditions, and recommend practical solutions while maintaining project schedules and quality standards
  • Proficiency in inspecting roadway construction activities, including asphalt paving, grading, drainage systems, traffic control, utilities, and materials testing
  • Ability to work independently in field environments, manage multiple priorities, and build productive working relationships with contractors, government representatives, and project teams
