Construction Inspector

Description of Duties

• Report to senior level inspection staff and assist with monitoring of daily construction activities.
• Track and report quantity usage, and prepare daily work reports as needed.
• Verify conformance of materials supplied by contractor with standard specifications and contract documents.
• Interpret construction drawings and specifications on projects as needed.
• Willingness to work weekends and/or weeknights as necessary.

Candidate Qualifications

• 0-5 years inspection experience related to highway and bridge construction including New York State Department of Transportation, New York State Thruway Authority, and/or locally-administered Federal-Aid projects.
• Proficiency in collecting data, interpreting plans, conducting field measurements, performing calculations, and documenting work performed by contractor.
• Proficiency with standard software applications and ability to learn new programs.
• Associates Degree in Civil Engineering/Technology or Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering/Technology.
• Good organizational and interpersonal communication skills.

• The expected salary for this position is $55,000 - $67,000.
