Construction Inspector

About the role

Mead & Hunt is seeking a Construction Inspector for projects in Columbia, MD. The ideal candidate will have at least two applicable certifications and a combination of education and/or experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide inspection services for transportation construction projects
• Ensure all work and materials used are in compliance with the proposal, plans, and specifications
• Perform required calculations, take measurements, and verify weights and volumes as needed
• Plot and run cross sections and prepare "as builds" during the progress of the project
• Perform materials testing
• Document inspected work daily
• Heavy lifting, working outside in a variety of conditions on a regular basis
• Travel to construction sites throughout the state
• Ability to perform work independently

Requirements

• At least two applicable certifications
• One of the following: A Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or related field
• An Associate’s Degree in Construction Management or related field AND two (2) years of relevant experience
• If no degree, at least four (4) years of relevant experience
• Associate’s Degree in related field preferred
• SHA Yellow Card certification
• MARTCP certification
• Roadway Construction experience
• Experience reading engineering plans
• Experience reading and understanding technical reports

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license
• Extended hours and overnight stays may be required

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
