Construction Inspector

About the role

McCormick Taylor, Inc. is seeking Construction Inspectors to work on highway, structure, and environmental projects for multiple MDOT SHA Districts in the Frederick, Frostburg, and Cumberland, MD areas. Inspectors will ensure quality control and contract compliance on behalf of the MDOT SHA, with opportunities to learn on the job while monitoring active construction sites.

Responsibilities

• Monitor active construction sites to ensure quality control and compliance with contract specifications.
• Represent MDOT SHA on transportation projects.

Requirements

• 0-10+ years of experience as a Construction Inspector for transportation projects.
• High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
• Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
• Flexibility to work additional hours as needed.
• Flexibility to work day or night shifts as required.
• Willingness to learn and adapt on the job.

Preferred Qualifications

• ACI Concrete certification.
• Maryland Department of the Environment Responsible Personnel Certification.
• MDOT SHA E&S Yellow Card.
• MDOT SHA Temporary Traffic Control Manager (Orange Card).
• MARTCP Certifications, including:
  • HMA Field Technician
  • Concrete Field Technician
  • Aggregate Technician (Field)
  • Soils & Aggregate Compaction Certification

Note: Certifications are not required but preferred. McCormick Taylor will cover the cost of certifications for employees.
