Responsibilities
- Perform daily inspection of construction activities to ensure compliance with VDOT plans, specifications, and contract requirements.
- Monitor contractor operations including grading, drainage, paving, bridge construction, utilities, and traffic control devices.
- Prepare Daily Work Reports (DWRs) documenting contractor activities, installed quantities, and inspection observations.
- Verify materials used on the project meet required specifications.
- Coincordinate materials testing and verify results in accordance with VDOT procedures.
- Maintain accurate field documentation for project records.
Requirements
- Minimum 3–7 years of experience in transportation construction inspection.
- NICET Level I or II certification in Transportation Construction Inspection or Construction Materials Testing.
- ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I certification.
- Preferred Nuclear Density Gauge Safety Certification.
- OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety Training.
- ATSSA Traffic Control Technician (TCT) certification.
- VDOT materials testing certifications such as Soils and Aggregate Compaction or Asphalt Field Level I.
