What You Will Do
- Inspects water and sewer main line construction projects
- Inspects new water and sewer lateral connection installations
- Inspects sewer pump station projects and associated force mains and outfall sewers
- Inspects pipe installation and approves materials on-site for proper quality
- Makes decisions relative to the intent of the standard specifications or standard details
- Observes compaction testing of backfilled soils
- Verifies grading and alignment of water mains, sewer lines, and appurtenances
- Advises contractors of deviations from the provisions of the contract
- Ensures compliance with required safety precautions and proper traffic control
- Uses a cloud-based construction management software to document activities and progress
- Performs visual sewer main and manhole final inspections
- Oversees sewer air and mandrel testing, televising of sewer lateral connections, hydrostatic water main testing
- Prepares reports of findings
- Inspects restoration of areas disturbed during construction
- Attends pre-construction meetings and monthly progress meetings
- Utilizes personal vehicle to travel to and from daily job sites
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Exposed to seasonal fluctuations in temperatures
- May be required to enter confined spaces
- May be exposed to loud noises, fumes, odors, and poor ventilation
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
Education | Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 2 years of experience in construction inspection and/or experience performing construction/installation of underground water and sewer new and/or rehabilitative pipeline
- Preferred industry certifications: ACI Field Technician, MARTCP Soils & Aggregate Technician, MDE Responsible Person Card, NASSCO Certified in ITCP-CIPP, and/or PACP, MACP & LACP, MDOT SHA Temporary Traffic Control, OSHA 10 hour safety

Compensation
The salary range for this role is $65,000 - $85,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
