Responsibilities
- Perform construction engineering services related to earthwork, concrete, asphalt and utility construction for DOT, municipalities, and private sector clients.
- Inspect and report on specific aspects of construction works in progress, such as concrete pours, rebar placement, pipe replacements, etc.
- May be responsible for inspection and sampling of construction materials.
- Assists Engineers in field during soil and materials investigations.
- Ensures that job site tests/observations, including quality control, quality assurance, and verifications are performed in accordance with the standard test/observation methods, project specifications and other contract documents.
- Performs inspections for construction projects to ensure contractor compliance with state specifications, plans, and/or proposals for roadway work, roadway, or pavement.
- Verifies plan quantities and calculations as bid plans.
- Prepares and maintains project records and reports.
- May notify the Contractor or the Project Engineer of non-conforming work.
Requirements
- Technical school or Community college graduate preferred.
- Associate degree in related field with at least 2 years’ experience, or a Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred.
- 2-3 years of construction inspection and testing experience, must be familiar with highway construction specifications and have previous field experience.

- Knowledge of materials and lab testing as well as standard testing and observation methods.
- Knowledge and understanding of construction or engineering services in local areas.
- Skill in performing quality control initiatives.
- Skill in testing performance and lab reporting.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to perform engineering and construction field testing.
- Ability to write reports and maintain records.
- Ability to work in external environment conditions during difficult weather.
- Ability to provide status updates independently when necessary.
