Responsibilities
- Monitor contractor’s work to ensure compliance with NYSDOT contract documents, specifications, and safety standards.
- Maintain daily inspection reports (DIRs) and document activities in APPIA or equivalent systems.
- Perform quantity calculations and assist in processing pay estimates.
- Observe and record testing of materials (concrete, soils, asphalt, etc.).
- Verify work zone traffic control setups.
- Complete project documentation using the APPIA construction management software system.
- Report non-compliance and assist in resolution with the Resident Engineer and/or Senior Inspector.
- Attend progress meetings when requested.
- Take site photographs to document progress and issues.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent (minimum).
- An associate’s degree in construction or civil engineering technology is preferred.
- 2–4 years of field construction inspection experience or experience working in the construction field.
- NICET Level II in Transportation/Highway Construction.
- OSHA 10-hour certification.
Pay
Estimated Pay Range: $42-49/hour. Actual compensation may vary based on related work experience, geographical location and market conditions, education/training, certifications, and other credentials, as well as applicable knowledge and skills.
