About the role

Arcadis is seeking a full-time Construction Inspector to join our Construction Management Team in Atlanta, Georgia. This is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated individual to join our team locally with support from one of the best-qualified municipal consulting firms in the country. The Construction Inspector will utilize their expertise and technical knowledge of construction inspection, construction field management, QA/QC, and report documentation on various construction and/or reconstruction projects for municipal water and wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, pipelines, electrical/instrumentation, civil, or other construction projects. The Inspector will report to the Resident Engineer and/or Project Manager and may lead other inspectors in completing tasks and providing regular updates on daily construction activities.

Responsibilities

  • Observe and inspect construction work performed by contractors, perform punch list inspections, review drawings and specifications, and other technical documents.
  • Prepare detailed daily activity and progress reports/photos and participate in project schedule and contractor invoice reviews.
  • Maintain quality assurance requirements and approach and monitor code compliance issues.
  • Inspect and determine deviations from general compliance with Contract Documents; clearly and professionally inform the contractor of required corrections.
  • Review submittals and other construction documents and recommend technical solutions.
  • Attend and participate in construction meetings, safety meetings/updates, and project site coordination meetings.
  • Monitor and document contractor resource utilization (labor, materials, and equipment) for field changes, and time and material work; assist with negotiation of basic field construction changes.
  • Verify equipment and materials installation for payment purposes.
  • Maintain Payment Quantity documentation.
  • Perform mathematical calculations as necessary during inspection activities.
  • Ensure Arcadis’ project safety guidelines are being met during daily inspections.
  • Local travel to project sites, client meetings, and construction oversight.

Requirements

  • 3 years’ experience in water distribution/sewer collection piping installation and/or repair.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (particularly MS Excel, MS Word, MS SharePoint, and Outlook).
  • Ability to work year-round in various weather conditions.

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 or more years of civil or utility construction inspection experience.
  • Strong background in performing civil and mechanical inspection activities on small to large infrastructure projects.
  • NASSCO certifications such as ITCP, PACP, and MACP.
  • Water Distribution System and/or Wastewater Collection System certifications.
  • ACI or NICET certifications and an Erosion and Sediment Control certification.
  • OSHA training—specifically OSHA-10, Confined Space Entry, and Trenching and Shoring.
  • Active participation in regional or national professional associations.

Skills

  • Identifying, analyzing, and providing innovative solutions to problems.
  • High level of math aptitude.
  • Ability to multi-task several priorities and possess solid time management skills.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $30-$40/hour. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project, and location.
