CONSTRUCTION INSPECTOR 1-4

About the role

The District 08/UNIT 208 Alexandria, LA position is located in the Alexandria Construction Office of the Department of Transportation and Development. The incumbent must be self-motivated, able to perform duties independently, and capable of interpreting unforeseen conditions.

Responsibilities

• Affords assistance in sampling and testing of construction materials for DOTD projects to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and specifications.
• Attends required training classes and receives on-the-job training in materials sampling and testing.
• Completes all training for Materials Testing Specialty areas as required by the position.
• Maintains an accurate and thorough inventory of all materials sampled.
• Enters test data into appropriate computer database and retrieves information and/or procures reports as necessary.
• Maintains all testing equipment, including cleaning, routine calibration, maintenance, and certification of sampling and testing equipment.
• May participate in emergency/disaster activities.
• Skilled use of programs/software including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe Reader, Site Manager, Content Manager, and LaGov.

Requirements

Minimum qualifications include possession of a high school diploma or GED, or six months of experience in sub-professional engineering, heavy mobile equipment operation, or mobile equipment maintenance.
