Construction Health & Safety Manager

About the role
The Health and Safety Manager ensures all health and safety policies are properly implemented, procedures are adhered to, and safe practices are adopted. They plan, implement, monitor, and review protective and preventive measures to minimize operational losses, occupational health problems, incidents, and injuries.
Responsibilities
- Communicates with Project Managers, Health and Safety Officers, and Director of Health and Safety to ensure field safety for all jobsites and facilities.
- Supports the Project Manager in developing and implementing the project health and safety program according to client expectations and Posillico policies.
- Administers the Site Health and Safety Program and advises the Project Manager on all health and safety matters associated with the project.
- Implements and administers the Site-Specific Health and Safety Plan (HASP), including client safety programs and Posillico policies.
- Provides site orientation (including site-specific HASP) to employees and subcontractors.
- Leads incident investigations, conducts witness interviews, and collaborates with the Project Manager, Corporate Officer, and client.
- Reports and documents incidents and safety-related issues.
- Performs duties in accordance with Posillico Health and Safety Program Procedures and site-specific health and safety plans.
- Conducts daily site reviews and inspections of projects throughout the VA/DC region.
- Verifies all site training is accomplished and current.
- Reviews and assists in preparing Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs).
- Assists in implementing the video surveillance safety program, reviewing findings, and coordinating corrective measures.
- Implements the Martins Energy Based Safety System, including weekly high-energy control assessments.
- Assists in managing vehicle/driver compliance and employee certification.
Requirements
- BA/BS degree in engineering, safety, health sciences, or equivalent, or equivalent experience in an occupational safety capacity.
- 5+ years of health and safety experience with compliance.
- Experience in the construction industry is required.
- CHST certification is required; ASP/CSP preferred.
- Moderate IT skills with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Patience and diplomacy; collaborative approach required.
- OSHA 500 Certification preferred.

Pay
$115,000 to $140,000 annually.
Reports to VP, Director of Health and Safety. Location: Fairfax, VA and surrounding areas.
