Construction Foreperson (Grade)

About the Role

As a Construction Foreperson, you will assist the project and/or job superintendent in developing detailed job plans to meet project production goals and budgeted costs. You will ensure work is completed on time and within budget, referencing contract specifics and coordinating with engineers. Your role includes determining crew size, scheduling manpower, and managing equipment, tools, and materials for efficient job site operations.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing detailed job plans aligned with project goals and budgets.
• Reference contract documents (e.g., special provisions, plans, standards, shop drawings) in job planning.
• Verify job plan layouts with engineers and perform layouts for standard work items when needed.
• Determine cost-effective crew sizes and establish daily manpower schedules using a 2-week look-ahead approach.
• Plan, assign, and notify crew members of specific job tasks.
• Detail and schedule equipment, tools, materials, and supplies for timely delivery.
• Ensure thorough knowledge of equipment capabilities and proper usage.
• Maintain job site equipment in proper working order and ensure proper tool and material usage.

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid driver's license meeting NESL's standards.
• Ability to travel as needed, including extended travel for some work locations.
• Ability to handle stress, communicate positively, and maintain punctuality and attendance.
• Specific training and certifications may be required by department.
