Position Summary The Construction Foreman is responsible for leading field crews in the safe, efficient erection of structural steel for commercial and industrial projects. This role combines hands-on ironwork with daily crew supervision, ensuring work is completed to specification, on schedule, and in full compliance with safety standards. The Foreman sets the tone for safety, productivity, and quality on the jobsite. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Crew Management Lead, direct, and coordinate ironworker crews in daily erection activitiesPlan work assignments, sequencing, and manpower to meet project schedulesTrain, mentor, and develop crew members; enforce accountability and performance standardsCommunicate clearly with project managers, superintendents, and other trades Structural Steel Erection Read and interpret construction drawings, shop drawings, and specificationsOversee layout, rigging, hoisting, connecting, bolting, and welding of structural steel componentsEnsure proper alignment, plumbness, and fit-up of all membersCoordinate crane operations and material staging for efficient workflow Safety & Compliance Promote and enforce a strong safety culture on every jobsiteConduct daily safety meetings/toolbox talks and job hazard analyses (JHAs)Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policiesIdentify hazards and take immediate corrective action Quality & Productivity Ensure all work meets project specifications, tolerances, and quality standardsMonitor productivity and adjust crew activities to stay on scheduleMinimize rework through proper planning and oversightMaintain clean and organized work areas Documentation & Reporting Track daily progress, manpower, and productionReport issues, delays, and material needs to managementAssist with timekeeping and job documentation as required Qualifications Experience 5+ years of structural steel or ironworking experience requiredProven experience leading crews on structural steel erection projects preferredDemonstrated ability to deliver projects safely and on schedule Skills & Knowledge Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and erection drawingsSolid understanding of rigging, crane signaling, and steel erection methodsWorking knowledge of OSHA standards and jobsite safety practicesEffective leadership, communication, and problem-solving skillsAbility to work under tight deadlines and changing jobsite conditions Certifications (Preferred) OSHA 10 or OSHA 30Rigging and/or signaling certificationFirst Aid/CPR Physical Requirements Ability to work at heights and in varying weather conditionsAbility to lift, carry, and maneuver heavy materialsFrequent climbing, standing, bending, and physical activity Work Environment Outdoor construction sites with exposure to weather, noise, and heavy equipmentHigh-risk environment requiring strict adherence to safety procedures and PPE Key Competencies Safety leadershipAccountability and reliabilityTeam leadership and developmentAttention to detail and qualitySense of urgency and execution
