Position Summary
The Construction Estimator supports the department with developing cost estimates and cost budgets for new projects across a portfolio of fast-paced construction/service projects, typically with emphasis in CSI MasterFormat Div's 23, 26 or 27. You will be involved in the solutioning, pricing and the proposal phases.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Review and understand RFP/RFQ documents from customers and supports request for information (RFI) process.
- Identify project risks and/or challenges as part of solutioning process.
- Affiliate with generation of rough order of magnitude and/or formal estimates for potential projects.
- Affiliate with proposal development.
- Maintain a well-organized database of bid documents for reference upon award of contract.
- Identify additional revenue opportunities for CPG, as applicable.
- Collaborate with personnel from sales, engineering, preconstruction, execution, and finance team.
- Collect different quotes from subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers pertaining to the task at hand.
- Review and assess cost estimates.
- Identify labor, material, costs, and time requirements by researching proposals, blueprints, and any related documents.
- Prepare detailed cost estimate reports.
- Present complex and detailed reports to management.
- Comfortable making site visits and documenting the data for distribution to the CPG team.
Qualifications
- Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree preferred. 2+ years of experience in construction estimating with specific knowledge of Mission critical systems. 2+ years of data center experience relating to batteries, UPS replacements and general maintenance required in a mission critical environment. Electrical, Mechanical or Communications/ LV estimating is a plus.
- Adept developing high level construction schedules utilizing tools like: P6 & MSProject Scheduler.
- Ability to interpret contract terms, conditions, and exhibits as applicable to project requirements.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated experience developing and justifying budgets.
- Ability to create and maintain processes for project documentation.
- Possess excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage internal and external meetings.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite. On Screen Take Off or Bluebeam, BuildingConnected or Accubid (Trimble) or RS Means preferred.
- Must be willing and able to travel up 5% for local candidates within the VA, DC, MD area.
- Must be a US Citizen.
Physical Demands
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk or working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15-25 pounds at a time. May be required to walk around facility.

Pre Employment Requirements

Pay Range
$98,891 - $148,392 per year
