Job Description

As a Program Architect, you will work with project teams in a dynamic, rapid-growth work environment with bright and talented engineers, architects, designers, builders, crafters, and manufacturers to improve and deploy a prototype building program and to build an alternative to the traditional construction industry. From desk to factory floor to job sites and client meetings, you will be challenged to develop your skills in a new field, taking a critical role in project delivery via the DMC methodology.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and analyze construction plans, specifications, and other project documents to develop precise and comprehensive cost estimates.
• Conduct quantity take-offs, material and labor cost analysis, and calculate unit rates based on project scope and requirements.
• Prepare and manage competitive bids, respond to client inquiries, and adjust estimates based on changes in project specifications or requirements.
• Solicit bids from subcontractors and suppliers, evaluate proposals, and negotiate pricing to ensure competitive project costs.
• Identify potential risks and uncertainties in project execution, considering various factors that could impact project costs, such as site conditions, labor availability, and material shortages.
• Prepare and maintain project documentation, including bid proposals, cost summaries, and historical cost data for future reference.
• Work closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and clients to understand project goals, requirements, and budget constraints.
• Stay updated on industry trends, construction materials, and labor costs to ensure accurate and competitive estimates.
• Track project costs during construction and provide cost analysis to ensure adherence to the budget.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered.
• 5+ years in construction estimating, with experience in commercial estimating.
• Proven track record in cost estimation for [specific types of construction, e.g., residential, commercial, infrastructure].
• Proficiency in estimating software such as ProEst, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project).
• Excellent analytical and mathematical skills with a keen eye for detail.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
• Ability to interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for client interaction and cross-team collaboration.
• Understanding of construction materials, methods, and labor markets.
