JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
Performs a wide variety of planning, maintenance, design engineering, project management and construction, and operations activities related to routine, non-routine, and emergency restoration duties. Project areas may include grid/system design, operations and maintenance, planning, asset management, reliability, computer applications, safety, and root cause failure analysis.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for the coordination of various Substation and Transmission Line Construction projects in different areas of Entergy
- Responsible for preparing construction contracts, construction schedules, cost tracking, progress reporting and project team coordination within a strong matrix organization to facilitate safe construction of facilities from 13.8kV to 500kV for both internal and external customers
- Provides engineering field technical support to substation and transmission line construction crews
- Participates in the planning, scoping, and brainstorming sessions with all applicable departments, and a diverse customer base (internal and external)
- Supports the capital work management process @ 40%
- Compiles the project and construction execution plan and associated activities @ 40%
- Field inspection for scoping and determining check and adjustments for a successful project completion @ 20%
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Discipline (typically Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, and Industrial) from a four-year accredited institution.
- Experience:
- Engineer I: 0-2 years of experience in an engineering discipline.
- Engineer II: at least 2 years of experience in an engineering discipline.
- Engineer III: at least 4 years of experience in an engineering discipline.
- Engineer Sr: at least 6 years of experience in an engineering discipline.
- Preferred: Power system, relay, or substation experience.
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Technical mastery of engineering principles.
- In-depth knowledge of procedures, programs, and standards in responsible area.
- Consistently drives for value in sound engineering decisions.
- Good leadership skills.
- Good interpersonal skills along with strong written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent math skills.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Good knowledge of Personal Computer operations and related software.
- Ability to manage multiple activities and changing priorities.
- Ability to work well under pressure.
- Required to work safely and follow all Entergy safety policies and procedures.
- Ability to recognize hazards in the workplace and have the ability to mitigate the hazards.

- Engineer SR: EIT or Graduate Level Engineering Degree or MBA.
- Preferred: EIT or PE
