About the role

The position requires strong telecommunications and wireless network construction experience, technical aptitude, project management capabilities, and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, external vendors, and municipal agencies. The Engineer - Construction III will provide leadership, monitor project performance, support vendor management activities, and ensure project objectives are completed on schedule and within budget.

Responsibilities

  • Manage construction activities associated with multiple network infrastructure projects simultaneously, including planning, execution, monitoring, and project closeout.
  • Coordinate construction efforts from initial site design visits through completion of construction drawings, including review of civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical feasibility considerations.
  • Support contract administration processes, bid package distribution, bid walk coordination, proposal evaluation, project awards, and construction vendor management.
  • Develop, maintain, and monitor detailed project schedules, ensuring key milestones, action items, procurement activities, and vendor commitments are achieved.
  • Monitor project progress and provide regular status updates to management and project stakeholders.
  • Analyze schedule impacts, identify project risks, and implement corrective actions to maintain project timelines and objectives.
  • Manage project financial activities from proposal and bidding stages through final project delivery, including budget tracking and purchase order management.
  • Coordinate and lead the issuance of requests for quotations (RFQs) and evaluate vendor responses based on project requirements.
  • Work closely with vendors, contractors, and business partners through meetings, conference calls, and ongoing communications.
  • Establish and support quality assurance methods, procedures, standards, and technical training related to site design and construction activities.
  • Evaluate new products, services, and vendors by assessing reliability, compatibility, costs, timing requirements, system impact, and ease of implementation.
  • Interface with internal departments, external stakeholders, and regulatory agencies to support permitting activities, construction inspections, and occupancy approvals.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to project teams, support onboarding activities for vendors, and offer guidance to junior engineers when required.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in construction practices, network modifications, and equipment configuration activities.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, records, reports, and communication logs.
  • Demonstrate professionalism through timely communication, active meeting participation, effective issue resolution, and collaboration across departments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Telecommunications, or a related field preferred.
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience in telecommunications, wireless network construction, data networking, or related infrastructure project management.
  • Experience managing wireless network or cellular site construction projects.
  • Experience coordinating multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining schedule, budget, and quality objectives.
  • Experience working with vendors, contractors, and cross-functional project teams.
  • Experience managing project budgets, financial tracking, procurement activities, and purchase orders.
  • Experience working with permitting processes, construction inspections, and regulatory requirements is preferred.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of wireless network construction, cellular site development, and network infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of working with Ericsson and Nokia equipment and environments.
  • Understanding of DC plant design and general construction practices.
  • Knowledge of fiber installation standards and related construction requirements.
  • Experience within the telecommunications, wireless, or data networking industry.
  • Knowledge of cellular design and construction, including Macro and Small Cell deployments.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines effectively.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and a strong sense of urgency.
  • Technical proficiency with computers and project management tools.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a wide variety of teams and stakeholder groups.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications and Google Workspace tools.
  • Ability to provide schedule management, financial tracking, and vendor management support.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Client construction management systems and internal tools.
  • Experience using FUZE, Ops Tracker, PeopleSoft, UneFi, and related project management platforms.
  • Solid understanding of telecom networking technologies, network architectures, equipment design concepts, configuration procedures, and inventory management.
  • Strong leadership and team development capabilities.
  • Ability to evaluate vendors, products, and services and provide recommendations based on project requirements.
  • Experience leading large-scale deployments and supporting new vendor onboarding activities.
  • Ability to serve as a technical resource and subject matter expert for construction-related initiatives.

Pay

Pay rate: $45.00 - $50.00/hr. Non-exempt positions are eligible for overtime at a rate of 1.5 times the base hourly rate for all hours worked in excess of 40 in a work week, or as required by state or local law.
