Construction Defect Associate Attorney
About the Role
Segal McCambridge, a respected national litigation firm, is seeking a skilled Associate Attorney to join its national construction defect defense practice. This fully remote position supports a West Coast-based team handling high-value, high-profile construction defect defense matters. Candidates must be able to work effectively on a Pacific Time schedule and collaborate closely with attorneys and clients.
Responsibilities
- Drafting pleadings, motions, and other litigation documents
- Managing and responding to written discovery
- Conducting legal research and preparing case assessments
- Assisting with expert discovery and construction-related litigation issues
- Preparing for hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trial
- Assisting with trial preparation, including exhibits, witness preparation, and trial strategy
- Managing case deadlines and associated litigation tasks
- Working closely with partners, clients, experts, and other members of the litigation team
Requirements
- Active license to practice law and in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
- 2+ years of experience practicing law on the defense side
- Prior construction defect defense experience
- Experience with civil litigation, including pleadings, discovery, motion practice, and litigation strategy
- Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple cases, deadlines, and competing priorities
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently while functioning effectively as part of a collaborative litigation team
- Ability and willingness to work with a team operating primarily on Pacific Time
- Proactive, ownership-driven approach and a strong interest in developing as a trial lawyer

Pay
The anticipated base salary range is $120,000–$185,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
