About the role
Cable One/Sparklight seeks a Construction Coordinator I to oversee utility construction projects, ensuring compliance with guidelines and company standards. The role involves inspecting projects, coordinating with vendors, and managing project documentation.
Responsibilities
- Inspects utility construction projects to ensure compliance with guidelines and company standards.
- Coordinates with private and municipal engineers, City maintenance personnel, utility representatives, and contractors to manage projects.
- Attends planning and pre-construction meetings to review utility projects and coordinate with vendors.
- Oversees the work of contractors to ensure adherence to contract specifications and monitors project progress and budget.
- Maintains records of ongoing construction for as-built references, pay request approvals, and plan verifications.
- Analyzes job requirements and project proposals to estimate materials needed and makes field adjustments to resolve issues.
- Verifies and updates project documentation and tracks project progress using software applications like Sitetracker.
- Ensures a safe working environment by surveying job sites and adhering to safety measures.
- Communicates effectively with stakeholders and responds to questions and concerns regarding utility construction projects.
- Manages procurement of necessary equipment and materials for assigned projects.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Experience organizing and coordinating large construction projects.
- Knowledge of methods, materials, equipment, and safety hazards relevant to construction.
- Experience managing project budgets and setting up and maintaining records; monitoring contract workers.
- Proven negotiation skills.
- Knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and city laws, ordinances, codes, and regulations.
- Knowledge of construction principles and cost accounting principles.
- Knowledge of construction inspection principles and techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and architectural and engineering drawings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Ability to work cooperatively with others and communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
