About the Role
If you're an experienced Construction Buyer who knows how to negotiate, analyze purchasing data, and build strong supplier relationships, this could be an excellent opportunity. Our client, a leading commercial roofing and waterproofing contractor, is looking for a Construction Buyer to support a growing operation across multiple markets. This is a high-impact role where your ability to drive purchasing strategy, improve vendor relationships, and identify cost-saving opportunities will directly influence project profitability. This is much more than issuing purchase orders. You'll help shape procurement strategy, negotiate with manufacturers, and partner with operations to ensure projects have the right materials at the right time and the best possible price.
Responsibilities
- Lead negotiations with manufacturers, distributors, and suppliers to secure the best pricing, rebates, and purchasing agreements.
- Develop and manage preferred vendor relationships while evaluating supplier performance.
- Analyze purchasing trends and spending data to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Build and manage group purchasing initiatives across multiple locations.
- Oversee purchase orders from requisition through delivery while ensuring accuracy and accountability.
- Partner with Project Managers, Operations, Sales, and Warehouse teams to support active construction projects.
- Review project specifications and coordinate material purchases based on project requirements.
- Maintain accurate vendor, pricing, and material databases.
- Monitor inventory levels and support warehouse stocking strategies.
- Help improve procurement processes and implement best practices across the organization.
Requirements
- 3+ years of purchasing or procurement experience within commercial construction.
- Experience purchasing construction materials, ideally within roofing, waterproofing, building materials, or specialty contracting.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are required. You should be comfortable working with large datasets, analyzing purchasing trends, creating reports, and identifying opportunities for cost savings.
- Experience working with ERP systems and purchasing software.
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Ability to read construction drawings and specifications.
- Highly organized with excellent attention to detail.
- Comfortable working independently while collaborating with multiple departments.
- Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Pay
$115,000 Base Salary
