Construction Business Development
About the role
Join the commercial team that owns our partner relationships, helping us find the right job sites for data collection and autonomy. You’ll bring design-partner construction expertise and feedback into the company so our product managers, operations, and engineers can build it into our product roadmap and execution. This is a construction-native business development role focused on general contractors and earthwork subcontractors. You will source, qualify, close, and grow early partnerships, coordinate deployments, and manage ongoing relationships as our technology and commercial model mature.
Responsibilities
- Own and execute the GC and earthwork-sub design partner relationships end-to-end.
- Identify, engage, qualify, and close partnerships through the pipeline.
- Spend time on active job sites to scope earthwork, read the work, and build trust with field teams (superintendents, foremen, operators, equipment managers).
- Navigate GC procurement, subcontracting structures, licensing, and COI requirements to mobilize machines.
- Act as the bridge between partners and internal product, operations, and engineering teams, carrying field reality into the roadmap.
- Refine our ideal customer profile, segmentation, and partner prioritization based on field learnings.
- Maintain a well-organized pipeline with forecasting discipline and clear reporting.
Requirements
- 10+ years in construction, earthwork, or heavy civil; comfortable on dynamic job sites with field credibility.
- Able to hold substantive conversations with supers, foremen, operators, and equipment managers; scope work in the field and discuss schedule and production realistically.
- 2+ years working closely with construction technology (selling/deploying it or as a GC/sub-side buyer/champion).
- Substantial experience in business development, managing a quota and pipeline through various deal-cycle stages.
- Clear track record of exceeding goals and finding ways to get things done fast and effectively.
- Deep familiarity with GC procurement and subcontracting structures—how sites get bid, awarded, and mobilized.
- Adaptability and grit; comfortable in early-stage ambiguity with no established playbook.
- Low ego, high ownership, rolls up sleeves, finds creative solutions, and does what it takes without being asked.
- Willing to travel heavily to active sites and partner HQs.
Nice to Have
- Track record landing and growing accounts with General Contractors and/or earthwork subs.
- Experience bringing skeptical field teams from doubt to active adoption of new tech or equipment.
- Familiarity with OEM, dealer, or rental partnership models.
- Experience scaling from early pilots to multi-site or fleet-wide deployments.
- Prior experience at a venture-backed or high-growth technology company.
Our roles are often flexible. If you don’t fit all the criteria or are in another location (especially one where we have an office like SF or NY), please apply anyway!
