About the Opportunity

We're looking for a detail-oriented, tech-comfortable Construction Billing Coordinator to join our team and grow into a career in construction finance and accounting. You'll learn AIA progress billing — a specialized, in-demand skill in commercial construction — with hands-on mentorship from experienced professionals. Our finance leadership team has a strong track record of developing top talent, and they're invested in doing the same for you.

About AC Corporation

AC Corporation is a diversified mechanical contractor with nearly 500 employees across multiple business lines — mechanical design and construction, air handling unit manufacturing, HVAC installation and repair, fabrication, and rendering plant systems. Headquartered in Greensboro, NC, with offices in Winston-Salem, Raleigh, Charlotte, and Charleston, we take on contract work nationwide. As part of Crete United, a national network of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and building automation companies, we also offer the reach and resources of a larger platform — with local, hands-on leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Own the AIA billing process end-to-end — preparing progress payment applications, schedules of values, change orders, and retainage adjustments that keep multi-million-dollar contracts accurate and on track.

Project Support & Data Management

  • Receive, review, and setup jobs using detailed information related to project costs, pricing, and markups
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date records for all active and completed projects
  • Verify accuracy of pricing calculations, including labor, materials, and overhead
  • Update pricing data based on changes in project scope or cost adjustments

Billing & Invoicing

  • Analyze contracts and project status to ensure every billing reflects the correct terms and approved changes before it goes out
  • Monitor project financials — percent-complete, retainage releases, and remaining contract balances — catching discrepancies early
  • Serve as the billing point of contact across project managers, general contractors, subcontractors, and clients, resolving questions and securing timely approvals

Job Cost Analysis

  • Manage contract data in our ERP system (Viewpoint Spectrum), ensuring job costs are captured correctly for accurate reporting
  • Build out reporting in Excel and other analytics tools that give leadership real visibility into billing performance

Requirements

  • 1–2 years+ of experience in billing, accounting, bookkeeping, or a related field — construction or AIA billing experience is a plus, not a requirement
  • Strong Excel skills and comfort learning new software/ERP systems
  • Sharp attention to detail and solid organizational skills
  • Clear communicator who can work cross-functionally with project managers and clients
  • A degree in accounting, finance, or business is a plus but not required — we care more about aptitude and drive
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and criminal background check required

Benefits & Perks

  • Competitive hourly pay $31.25 to $33.65 DOE and performance-based bonuses
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid time off and holidays
  • Professional development opportunities
