About the role

Join our Lamar office in Columbus, Ohio as an Operations crew member and help bring advertising campaigns to life for brands in Columbus and the surrounding areas. This position involves installing and maintaining billboards, including the installation of advertisements, structural maintenance, and cosmetic upkeep. You’ll often work independently, managing your own work schedule and tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Install and maintain billboards, including removing and hanging flexes/vinyls, cutting and preparing materials, and installing copy on Tri-Visions
  • Maintain structures: tighten bolts, paint steel structures, repair trim and sign faces, change light bulbs, and assemble structures as needed
  • Build and install extensions, cut brush/weeds, conduct storm damage repairs, and perform minor electrical repairs
  • Sweep and clean workshop areas
  • Use power/manual tools while adhering to all safety regulations
  • Attend safety meetings as required
  • Maintain operation vehicles, tools, equipment, and machinery
  • Document installations through photographs and written logs
  • Take completion photos for proof of performance

Requirements

  • Ability to work alone and manage work schedules effectively
  • Good communication skills; fluency in English (speaking and reading)
  • Willingness to work collaboratively and get along well with others
  • Basic computer skills, including Internet navigation and Microsoft Word & Excel
  • Ability to comply with Lamar safety standards
  • Ability to work from ladders and carry tools to worksites from a vehicle
  • Working knowledge of electrical and fabrication skills/techniques
  • Skill in reading technical documents (e.g., blueprints and diagrams)
  • General knowledge of Lamar, DOT, and OSHA safety regulations
  • Ability to safely use construction equipment for outdoor structures
  • Ability to climb and work at heights safely
  • Skill in documenting installations through photographs and written logs
  • Practical application of mathematics for construction and operations tasks
  • Skill in setting priorities based on job responsibilities

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Valid driver’s license (required)
  • Successful completion of OSHA 10-hour Construction course (required)
  • One additional certification based on location need: CDL/Non-CDL, Crane, Signal, Rigging, or LDD (required)
  • 5 years of Operations experience in outdoor advertising or equivalent experience in a safety-related position (required)
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Primarily outdoor work, including exposure to adverse weather conditions
  • Ability to climb heights up to 200 ft
  • Heavy lifting (up to 100 pounds), bending, pushing, reaching, and stooping
  • Sitting less than 50% of the time; standing, walking, driving, and climbing regularly
  • Visual acuity for reading, color distinction, depth perception, and peripheral vision
  • Less than 10% of nights spent away from home traveling
  • On-call shifts may be required
