Construction Associate

About the Role

Hinckley Allen is seeking a mid-level associate to join our team of attorneys representing construction clients in all facets of their businesses – from contract drafting and negotiation, to claim preparation and presentation, and to mediations, litigation, and appeals. The position offers an excellent opportunity to assume significant responsibility and hands-on experience in a collaborative, sophisticated and team-oriented work environment.

Responsibilities

• Engage in the preparation of construction contracts
• Evaluate, manage and monitor complex construction disputes and litigation matters
• Engage in risk management of potential and existing claims
• Develop litigation and resolution strategies
• Report to clients
• Manage local counsel and experts
• Collaborate with multiple entities

Requirements

• 3 to 5 years of experience taking and defending depositions, drafting and arguing dispositive motions, and preparing for arbitrations, mediations, and trial
• Experience with e-discovery
• Admission to Massachusetts Bar required
• Strong writing and oral communication skills
• Excellent academic record
• Highly motivated with the ability to work both independently and as part of a larger team

Qualifications

• Experience in preparing and negotiating construction contracts, as well as in litigating various types of construction disputes, including delay and disruption claims, payment disputes, and breach of contract claims (plus)

Pay

Salary Range: $170,000 – $200,000. The specific compensation for this role will be determined based on office location, as well as education, experience, and skill set of the individual selected for this position.
