About the role
The Assistant Superintendent position at TMG oversees the day-to-day field operations of various construction projects ranging from small tasks to larger lump sum institutional and commercial construction projects. This role involves managing the production aspects of the work, ensuring it meets the standards set in the project's contract documents, and maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day field activities to meet project milestone dates and overall schedule completion dates;
- Create short-interval look-ahead project schedules;
- Maintain a culture that values safety, health, and cleanliness;
- Coordinate the work to ensure it is constructed in an orderly and deliberate manner;
- Verify that all work is installed in a workmanlike manner;
- Proactively identify and resolve potential issues;
- Ensure compliance with all contract terms and legal requirements;
- Manage self-performed activities to stay within the project budget;
- Administer contracts and ensure they are consistently met;
- Manage the punch list and project closeout process;
- Manage changes in project scope;
- Communicate with clients and stakeholders.
Requirements
- A.S. degree in Construction Management or a similar field with 2-3 years of related experience;
- Journeyman status in a building trade (e.g., Carpenter) with 5 years of progressive responsibility supervising construction;
- Minimum 2 years of experience in the construction industry with a commercial and/or institutional general contractor engaged in general building and civil construction;
- Preferred 2 years of experience in government contracting;
- Ability to lift and handle 50-pound objects;
- Full mobility and capability to walk job sites, climb ladders and stairs multiple times daily;
- Clean driving record;
- Proficiency with spreadsheets, Email, and other software used in the construction industry;
- Current safety credentials including OSHA 30, 1st Aid, and CPR;
- Current CQC certification issued by USACE / NAVFAC.
Qualifications
- Basic working knowledge of civil, architectural, mechanical, or electrical disciplines;
- Basic working knowledge of construction means and methods;
- Effective communication skills;
- Ability to travel to different job sites;
- Ability to lift and handle 50-pound objects;

- Clean driving record;
