Console Operator

About the Role

The Console Operator serves as the central communications and monitoring hub for Facilities Maintenance Operations, responsible for monitoring, operating, and adjusting multiple Building Automation Systems (BAS) that control heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), humidity, and related building systems across the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation and Colonial Williamsburg Corporate properties.

Responsibilities

• Monitor multiple Building Automation Systems, including Johnson Controls, Automated Logic, and Tracer platforms.
• Continuously monitor HVAC, humidity, and environmental conditions throughout Foundation and Corporate facilities.
• Acknowledge, evaluate, and respond appropriately to system alarms.
• Modify BAS programming, schedules, and operating parameters in response to various requirements and situations.
• Analyze BAS data to identify HVAC and environmental control issues and perform remote troubleshooting.
• Support field technicians by performing controls testing, adjusting system parameters, and providing historical trend data.
• Receive maintenance requests, prioritize them, and dispatch maintenance personnel.
• Generate and assign work orders through the computerized maintenance management system.
• Maintain accurate shift logs, operational records, and key control logs.
• Respond to emergency situations, including fire alarms, smoke conditions, and severe weather.
• Provide courteous, professional, and timely service to employees, guests, tenants, contractors, and vendors.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Excellent oral and written communications skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Preferred qualifications include the ability to read and understand blueprints and schematics, completion of an HVAC vocational program, and experience with computerized maintenance management systems.

Physical and Environmental Demands

• Stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
• Use hands/fingers constantly.
• Climb or balance rarely.
• Stoop/kneel/crouch/crawl occasionally.
• Lift up to 10 lbs. occasionally, up to 25 lbs. occasionally, and up to 50 lbs. rarely with assistance.
• Work near moving mechanical parts, in wet/humid conditions, and with fumes/airborne particles rarely.
• Extreme cold, extreme heat, and risk of electrical shock are rare.

Schedule

Must be willing to work one of the following shifts and rotate/provide coverage based on business need: 1st Shift (7am-3pm), 2nd Shift (3pm-11pm), or 3rd Shift (11pm-7am).

Pay

The compensation range for this position is $23.00 to $30.00 per hour, with actual compensation determined based on factors such as skills, qualifications, experience, education, certifications, internal equity, and the specific requirements of the role.
