About the role
This is a part-time on-site internship located at the State Capitol in downtown Hartford.
Responsibilities
- Assist with research
- Write testimony
- Attend meetings and take notes
- Prepare reports
- Support communication between lawmakers, constituents, and other stakeholders
- Attend hearings, meetings, and legislative sessions
- Provide thorough documentation and analysis
- May include event planning, data management, and assisting with routine office tasks
Qualifications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to draft professional documents and communicate effectively with diverse audiences
- Analytical and research skills to gather, evaluate, and present policy-related information
- Organizational abilities to manage multiple tasks, maintain schedules, and meet deadlines
- Proficiency with office software tools, such as word processing, spreadsheets, and email applications
- Teamwork and interpersonal skills to collaborate with elected officials, colleagues, and constituents
- Demonstrated interest in public policy, government, or political science
- Enrolled full time in a Connecticut college or university
- At least 18 years old
- A minimum 2.7 GPA
