Position Summary

Roy Jorgensen Associates, Inc. is currently seeking full-time Highway Concrete Technicians to travel and perform concrete repair and maintenance operations in the Texas area during the night shift. This position requires performing a variety of tasks related to driving across the state of Texas, highway concrete repair/maintenance, guardrail, and drainage and adherence to all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Jorgensen Company policies and procedures. Highway Concrete Technicians will be based out of the Grand Prairie, TX yard and require the ability to travel at least 75% of the time within the US, mostly within TX but quarterly to CO.

Responsibilities

• Perform concrete repair and maintenance operations on highways
• Drive across the state of Texas to various job sites
• Maintain guardrail and drainage systems
• Adhere to all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Jorgensen Company policies and procedures
• Use shovels, weed trimming machinery, brooms, and various small hand tools
• Operate wheel loader, skidsteer, forklift, asphalt roller, and other equipment
• Maintain proper safety equipment required for each job
• Use smartphone and applications for work-related tasks
• Adjust to changing work schedules
• Work safely under ranging environmental and weather conditions
• Lift up to 50 pounds
• Operate hand/power tools

Required Experience

• Concrete forming/repair experience required – Minimum 3 years of related experience
• Roadway maintenance experience
• Exposure to using shovels, weed trimming machinery, brooms, and various small hand tools
• MOT (Traffic control certifications/courses)
• Wheel Loader, Skidsteer, Fork Lift, Asphalt Roller, etc. operator

Preferred Experience

• Roadway maintenance experience
• Air compressor operations familiarity
• Guardrail and Sign installation experience
• Bilingual: English/Spanish (read/write) preferred but not required

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED
• Maintain company standards for background checks (criminal record, driving record and controlled substance/drug testing)
• Clean driving record is essential
• Must pass criminal background check
• Knowledge of local driving rules and regulations
• Carry out simple arithmetic functions
• Knowledge and ability to adapt to the latest technology
• Ability to use smart phone and applications
• Ability to adjust to changing work schedule
• Ability to work safely under ranging environmental and weather conditions

Schedule

• Full time
• Must be able to travel 75% of the time with 1 week notice
• Must be able to work rotating day or night shift, including weekends
• Day shift is typically 7am – 3:30pm
• Night shift is typically 6pm – 2:30am or once concrete is cured
• Must be able to work weather events such as snow, ice, and floods
