Concrete Mixer Truck Driver (CDL Required)

About the role

Under minimal direct supervision, operate a concrete mixer truck on public streets, highways, and construction sites to transport and deliver concrete materials.

Requirements

• Valid CDL Class A or B North Carolina Driver's license
• Good driving record
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Must be 21 years of age or older
• Current medical examination certificate with card
• Dependable transportation

Qualifications

• One to two years of experience driving a commercial vehicle (preferred)
• Good work ethic, dependable, on-time, with regular and predictable attendance
• Able and willing to work overtime if needed
• Willing to work various hours, including nights and weekends

Responsibilities

• Climb on, over, and around vehicles to perform pre/post-trip inspections and secure loads
• Climb up and down mixer trucks using a ladder; perform repetitive motion to inspect concrete consistencies and perform quality control checks
• Lift hoods, products, equipment, and tools necessary for inspection, repair, loading, and unloading
• Support and assist shop personnel with required repairs
• Wash trucks, clean cabs, and climb up and down washing facilities
• Operate the vehicle safely, lawfully, and courteously at all times
• Keep vehicle, cab interior and exterior clean, and mixer drums free from concrete buildup, stones, debris, and loose objects
• Read road signs and follow written or verbal directions
• Maintain contact with managers via radio or GPS to report delays, problems, or unusual situations
• Work long, flexible hours, including nights and weekends, and work outside for extended periods in all seasons
• Maintain a clean, neat, and professional appearance when reporting to work and throughout the day
• Maintain operator logs and other required documentation
• Comply with all company policies and procedures
• Perform additional duties as directed

Physical demands

Heavy physical effort required, including climbing, pulling, and lifting or moving heavy weight materials or equipment (over 80 pounds).

Work environment

Continuous exposure to noise, dust, heat, cold, oil, and heavy equipment. Requires the ability to exchange ideas quickly and clearly, and to receive and evaluate detailed information and instructions.
