Concrete Laborer
About the role
We are currently seeking Concrete Skilled Laborers to join our Wagman Heavy Civil, Inc. team with our Latex Modified Concrete Division. Reporting to direct supervisor, Laborers are responsible for assisting the crews on site to complete construction related tasks. This position works along with the entire Project Team to support the completion of assigned construction projects and ensures quality work is executed in a timely fashion.
Responsibilities
- Assist finishing crew and other crews with carrying and set up of materials such as shovels, rigging, signaling, mixing and pouring concrete
- Chip concrete
- Help pour concrete
- Carry, load, unload and stack materials
- Lay out materials and assist experienced crew members
- Dig with pick and shovel
- Shovel, rake, spread and vibrate concrete into place
- Climb embankments and ladders to carry material to various work sites on project as needed
- Jackhammer and saw cut concrete
- Cleanup project site of debris
Requirements
- HS Diploma or GED preferred; can be replaced with relevant work experience
- 1+ years' experience in construction, preferably concrete work
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to communicate effectively and take instructions
- Open to regional travel in MD, PA, VA, and NC
Qualifications
- Experience in Heavy Highway and/or bridge construction preferred
- Familiar with paving, concrete, highway and/or bridge construction and all other highway construction scopes
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong prioritization and organizational skills; detail-oriented
Physical requirements
- Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds from ground level to waist level and 30 pounds to above shoulder level throughout work shift
- Must be able to work at heights up to 150 feet
- Continuous standing and walking required throughout a scheduled work shift
- Must be able to perform simple grasping and fine manipulation tasks with both hands
- Must be able to climb ladders
- Must be able to bend, squat, kneel and crawl
- Must be able to work outdoors in wet, muddy, cold, hot and humid weather
- Required to have acceptable corrected vision (in both eyes) and acceptable corrected hearing
- Required to have the ability to reach, lift and perform work above shoulder height
- Ability to work on uneven surfaces and in confined spaces
Pay
$18.00/hr – $23.00/hr (based on experience)
Schedule
This is a safety sensitive position requiring work on construction sites with various safety hazards inherent in heavy construction. This position is subject to drug testing and compliance policies associated with our status as a Federal Contractor.
