About the role

This position is responsible for providing a positive, warm welcome and fond farewell to all who present at any public entrance of a hospital campus, CHST, and other identified entrances. The Concierge ensures proper badging, infection prevention screening, and verification of appropriate campus access. This role also ensures CHST employees have completed a health screening process before starting their shift. The Concierge presents a positive public image by coordinating hospital systems and patient information for families.

Responsibilities

  • Greet each person, regardless of visit reason, in a friendly, welcoming tone to provide an excellent impression of the organization. Assist visitors in high-stress situations, identify those with special accommodations, remain calm and professional, and make proper referrals to other departments.
  • Identify regulatory or accreditation visitors arriving on campus. Alert the Accreditation and Regulatory Readiness chain of command immediately and ensure visitors are properly escorted.
  • Assist visitors through the badging and screening process, including registering visitors in Fast Pass, navigating badging software, asking infectious disease screening questions, recognizing frequent visitors, problem-solving issues, and providing directions using the wayfinding system.
  • Partner with security to identify and address visitors who are registered sex offenders, BOLO (Be on the Lookout) guests, or those with Criminal Trespass citations, following security directives.
  • Serve as an on-site screener to ensure all workers (employees, contractors, consultants, non-employees, etc.) have completed a health screen before starting their shift. Distribute screening stickers and masks upon proof of a valid screen.
  • Facilitate visitation for confidential patients without disclosing patient information. Navigate EPIC to locate patients, verify passwords and visitor names with clinical staff, and enforce confidential processes when visitors cannot provide correct passwords. Maintain patient privacy and HIPAA standards at all times.
  • Accept or deny deliveries for patients and staff, ensuring timely delivery of accepted items. Communicate with customers about deliveries that need pickup.
  • Provide oversight for volunteers in an Ambassador role, ensuring proper training, time management, and relationship-building to promote volunteer service.
  • Maintain a clean, neat screening station at specific entry points across CHST. Communicate and enforce policies and procedures supportively, aligning with Children’s Health’s mission and values.
  • Assist families and staff with accessing wagons and wheelchairs for patient use. Maintain logs of wagons and wheelchairs, locate lost assets, and ensure they are clean, functional, and repaired promptly.
  • Serve as a liaison in Emergency Departments between patients, families, and ED staff. Maintain a clean, functional waiting area, monitor patient statuses, and provide comfort items.
  • Assist patients and families with kiosk check-in for appointments.
  • Facilitate the vendor check-in process through Vendor Mate. Problem-solve issues during vendor sign-in with Supply Chain or other hosting departments.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Two-year Associate's degree or equivalent experience (preferred).
  • At least 2 years of job-related experience (required).
  • At least 2 years of face-to-face customer service, customer relations, or hospitality background (preferred).
