Responsibilities
- Prepare hot and cold beverages.
- Preparation of prepared foods for re-sale.
- Accurate cash handling and use of credit card machine.
- Opening and/or closing the coffee shop as scheduled.
- Cleaning and sanitizing work area as required by the State of Alaska.
- Provide exceptional customer service daily.
- Promote sales of products through guest interaction.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with other employees, and supervising, guiding, and training staff.
- Ability to work directly with the public, providing information and assistance daily.
- Ability/willingness to learn and pass on to passengers those areas of interest to visitors, such as local history, people, culture, geography, etc.
Qualifications
- Necessary Skills and Knowledge:
- Ability to provide quality customer service with a SMILE.
- Ability to operate technical equipment (espresso machine and cash register).
- Knowledge and skill in making a large variety of coffee drinks.
- Ability to accurately exchange money with the customers.
- Ability to reconcile all cash and money at the end of the day.
- Ability and willingness to maintain a clean, healthy, and safe working environment.
- Ability to learn and use the company computer to input data on a day-to-day basis.
- Ability to coordinate multiple activities with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.
- This position requires heavy customer contact and excellent customer service skills.
- A positive focus and customer service skills is to ensure the return of our customers.
- Knowledge of customer service techniques.
- Ability to meet time and attendance requirements.
- Ability to work all different shifts including days, evenings, holidays and weekends.
- Ability to handle stress under pressure.
- Ability to provide quality customer service.
- Able to communicate verbally and understand and follow written and verbal instruction.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with other employees.
- Ability to work directly with the public, providing information and assistance on a daily basis.
- Ability/willingness to learn and pass on to guests those areas of interest to visitors, such as local history, people, culture, geography, etc.
- Some knowledge of basic cleaning principles, equipment and products.
- Detail oriented.
Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications:
- State of Alaska Food Workers Card.
- Three (3) months Barista experience.
- Ability to successfully pass a background check.
- Preferrred Qualifications:
- Recently completed a Barista Training Program is preferred.
