About the role

Scout Motors is carrying forward the heritage of one of the most iconic American vehicles in history—a vehicle dating back to 1960 that forged the path for future generations of rugged SUVs and trucks. The Scout brand is steeped in a culture of exploration, caretaking, and hard work, with respect at its core: respect for the past and future by electrifying and digitizing an iconic American brand, respect for communities by creating a company that stands for its people and customers, and respect for customers by developing both an all-electric powertrain and the Harvester™ range extender powertrain with an estimated 500 miles of combined range.

At Scout Motors, you don't just design vehicles—you shape the future of the road. Our Engineering team is where bold ideas meet rigorous execution, building machines that are as durable and capable as the people who drive them. You'll work shoulder-to-shoulder with brilliant minds across disciplines, turning complex challenges into elegant, scalable solutions that meet the highest standards of safety, performance, and user experience. This is a place where your fingerprints are found on metal—where what you design gets built, driven, and remembered.

What you'll do

Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck and rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:

  • Collaborate with the engineering team to conceptualize and develop the range extended electric vehicle platform, which includes the chassis and drive train, battery pack, range extender, and key structural components
  • Partner with other concept and systems architect teams to come up with solutions to engineering and functional challenges through creation of 3D CAD packaging proposals
  • Critically review available technical systems and propose an engineering improvement and/or customer experience enhancement
  • Develop the concept architecture and vehicle integration for the scalable platform
  • Collaborate in design and creating a 3D input for simulation environment that allows the system architecture, concepts and ideas to be put to test for other systems engineers to utilize
  • Create detailed design documentation, including 2D and 3D drawings, specifications, and design guidelines for the platform
  • Creating prototype architectures for physical and computer verification and stress testing

What you'll bring

We expect all Scout employees to have integrity, curiosity, resourcefulness, and strive to exhibit a positive attitude, as well as a growth mindset. You'll be comfortable with change and flexible in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. You'll take a collaborative approach to achieve ambitious goals. Here's what else you'll bring:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Industrial Design, or a related field
  • 6+ years of experience in concept engineering, specifically with concept lead platforms/variants, module selection and modification in the automotive industry
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as CATIA V5, Teamcenter, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, NX, and other design visualization tools
  • PLM experience is highly appreciated
  • Proficiency in office products such as Microsoft Office Suite and JIRA
