COMSEC Manager I

About the role

The COMSEC Security Manager will provide day-to-day support for Collateral, Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and Special Access Program (SAP) activities within Department of Defense (DoD) agencies such as HQ Air Force and Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD). The role requires familiarity with Communications Security (COMSEC) requirements and procedures, including acquisition, maintenance, operations and disposition of COMSEC equipment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct secure equipment (e.g., secure telephone and encryption devices) and classified keying material inventories, inspections and other COMSEC-related support and oversight functions.
• Perform installation of secure telephone equipment (STE) and coordinate delivery of encryption devices and keying material to IT specialists maintaining classified networks.
• Administer a Top Secret inventory and document control program to account for COMSEC equipment and materials.
• Conduct inventories per agency policy and report discrepancies to the government customer.
• Courier classified information and provide receipts for classified materials.
• Ensure Automated Information Systems Security requirements related to COMSEC duties are complied with.
• Ensure proper physical security accreditation has been issued by designated Program Security Officers for supported facilities.
• Train personnel in COMSEC procedures and the use of related equipment.

Requirements

• 5+ years of related experience, including SAP experience.
• Bachelor’s degree OR Associate’s degree in a related area plus 2 years of experience OR equivalent experience (4 years).
• Top Secret/SCI clearance required; willingness to submit to a Counterintelligence polygraph.
• Must have a strong understanding of COMSEC accountability and knowledge of procedures for issuing and receiving COMSEC equipment and materials, including inventory and mailing.
• Ability to perform regular moderate lifting (approximately 25–40 pounds).
• U.S. Citizenship required.
