About the role
Germanna Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education in the Virginia Community College System. As a comprehensive community college, Germanna provides quality, accessible, and affordable educational opportunities for the residents of the City of Fredericksburg and the counties of Caroline, Culpeper, King George, Madison, Orange, Spotsylvania and Stafford. Adjunct faculty members are responsible for effectively planning and teaching courses in the designated discipline/field of study to students from a variety of academic backgrounds and experiences. We are seeking someone who is able to teach Computer Science both in-person and online.
Responsibilities
- Teach specific classes in the designated discipline.
- Develop course syllabi and instructional materials.
- Maintain records, assign grades, and assess student progress.
- Adhere to policies, procedures, and regulations of GCC and the VCCS.
- Maintain current competence in the particular discipline or field of specialization.
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree with at least eighteen graduate semester hours in Computer Science.
- Ability to effectively teach classrooms and online.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Excellent oral/written communication skills.
- Ability to use instructional technology.
- Experience with or willingness to learn artificial intelligence tools.
Additional Considerations
- Prior teaching experience.
- Work experience in the field.
- Experience with on-line teaching.
- Substantial, proven experience with innovative teaching and developing online courses in both the synchronous and asynchronous learning environments at a regionally accredited institution.
